We were recently approached by Mini of Knoxville to wrap one of their 2019 models for the First Friday Knoxville Art Slam. It was an awesome experience that introduced a large number of spectators to the option of vinyl wrap and educated everyone on the process involved.
The Knoxville Art Slam is a locally judged art competition where contestants have just 3 hours to complete a painting. We also took just only a little over 3 hours to complete the full vehicle wrap. We wanted to exhibit the different materials and techniques we use for people who have possibly never seen vinyl wrap before. There are many misconceptions that unaware/ uneducated people have about wrapping technique or the material itself. We wrapped the main display side of the vehicle with clear vinyl and directly printed our in-house graphic design onto it then used a matte laminate.
The opposite side of the car received a dual-layer metallic base with graphics printed onto it and high gloss laminate on top. The front and back were both wrapped in standard dual-layer printed vinyl with high gloss laminate. Luckily we were using some of 3M’s Featured vinyls which made the process even easier and gave the car a show-stopping finish!
The Knoxville Art Slam was an excellent experience for us as it pushed the limits in which a car could get a quality wrap. It also allowed many spectators to see why the wrap industry is ever-growing.
