A Porsche Cayman GT4 does not need much help looking the part. But a well-executed stripe package in the right color changes the car entirely. This customer wanted bold, precise, and reversible. We delivered all three using 3M 2080 High Gloss Citric Acid cast vinyl.
What the Customer Wanted
The goal was a custom stripe package that added a strong visual identity to the GT4 without committing to a full color change. The car’s base color stays. The stripes carry the personality.
Citric Acid was the right call. It is a saturated yellow-green that reads with real presence in direct light and shifts to something more dialed-in in the shade. On a performance car with strong body lines, that kind of dynamic color works with the design rather than against it.
Why 3M 2080 for Stripe and Accent Work
3M 2080 is a cast film engineered for color change and accent applications on vehicles. Cast vinyl conforms to compound curves without distorting the film or creating tension at edges, which matters on a car like the GT4 where the body panels are anything but flat.
The High Gloss finish in the 2080 series sits deep and rich. It holds its appearance over time without the fading or hazing that cheaper films develop after a season of sun exposure. And when the customer eventually wants to remove or change the stripes, the film comes off cleanly without pulling paint or leaving adhesive residue.
For stripe work on an exotic vehicle, there is no reason to use anything less. The investment in the right material shows in the finished result and protects the car underneath.

The Installation
Stripe packages on a performance car require exact alignment. The lines of the vehicle have to carry through the stripe layout, not conflict with it. Every panel transition, every edge cut, and every seam has to be deliberate.
On this GT4, the stripe was laid clean from nose to tail with precise edge work throughout. The Citric Acid color reads consistently across the entire run of the car, which is a function of proper surface preparation and careful application. Corners cut during prep show up in the finished product. We do not cut them.
