When Lexi Slides approached us to transform her Nissan 370Z into a rolling brand statement, we knew it had to be loud, clean, and durable. The concept centered on a bright magenta palette—instantly recognizable and perfectly aligned with her branding. To deliver the look and performance her driving demands, we produced and installed a full wrap using 3M IJ175Cv3 with a premium gloss laminate. The result? The Design: Bright Magenta with Brand-First Focus
Lexi’s branding guided the entire look. The hero color is a vivid magenta that pops under sun, stadium lighting, and in social content. We paired it with high-contrast typography and placements that keep her logo visible in motion—on the 370Z’s doors, quarter panels, and the rear where camera shots linger during transitions. Secondary graphic accents add depth without distracting from the hero color, and we used panel break lines strategically so the livery remains cohesive even when individual sections are serviced between events. We also included decals for her supporters and sponsors such as Legacy Childcare, Fastech Motorsports, and Risefab.
Pre-Flight: Prep and Panel Planning
A great wrap starts before the first panel is laid:
- Deep clean and decontam: We removed waxes, tar, and track grime, then IPA-wiped all surfaces for maximum adhesion.
- Hardware off: Mirrors, handles, badges, diffusers, and splitters—anything that could compromise fitment—were removed or loosened on the 370Z.
- Template alignment: We mapped panel seams and body contours to align key brand elements across doors, fenders, and bumpers, minimizing logo distortion and mismatch.
Installation: Precision on Every Curve
- Controlled environment: We installed in a dust-controlled bay at optimal temperature for the adhesive system.
- Dry application with heat: Using controlled heat, we conformed film to complex curves and recessed areas of the 370Z without overstretching, preserving color density and adhesive strength.
- Squeegee and edge work: Soft-edge squeegees and felt tips ensured a smooth finish. We post-heated critical edges to 3M’s recommended temperatures for long-term hold.
- Panel replacement strategy: For a competition car, we built in hidden overlaps where needed to enable quick swaps if a panel gets tapped during tandem runs.
The Finish: Gloss, Depth, and Durability
The gloss laminate adds a wet-look sheen that makes the magenta glow. Under track lights, it reads saturated and crisp—no chalkiness, no orange peel. The laminate also adds a sacrificial layer against rubber streaks and cone scuffs.
Care and Maintenance for Track Days
- Post-install cure: We recommend 24 hours before washing or track use to allow adhesive to set.
- Gentle wash: Touchless or hand wash with pH-neutral soap. Avoid harsh solvents.
- Spot repairs: If a section takes damage, we can reprint and replace individual panels without redoing the entire car.
- Storage: When possible, park out of direct sun between events to maximize longevity and colorfastness.
