Top 4 Questions about Wrap Care

Custom Livery 718 Clubsport GT4 Porsche

We get it—wrapping a vehicle a bit like a science experiment if you’ve never done it before. You’ve got questions, we’ve got answers, and we’ve heard just about everything (including some things we can’t repeat in a family-friendly post 😅). To save you a Google search that might lead you down a dark path of bad advice, we’ve rounded up the most common things the our clients ask. Here’s the ‘no-fluff’ guide to what you need to know. You can also view our other FAQ’s here.

Q: Can I take my car to a carwash after getting wrapped?

A: Technically, yes. But if you’re thinking about those “Mega-Scrub 3000” automatic washes with the giant spinning brushes of doom—please, for the love of your wrap, don’t.

Those brushes are basically giant, dirt-filled exfoliators that will swirl, scratch, and eventually lift the edges of your beautiful new film. If you want your wrap to stay “show-room fresh,” hand washing is the gold standard. If you must use a car wash, go touchless.

And if you’re using a pressure washer at home, keep it under 2,000 psi with a 45 degree tip, & stay at least 3 feet back, and don’t aim it directly at the edges like you’re trying to peel a potato. Treat your wrap like a fine suit, not a pair of muddy work boots, and it’ll look great for years. Ask us for recommendations on a local detailer.

Q: What can I use to clean it, do I need a chemistry degree?

A: You don’t need a lab coat, but you should put down the industrial-strength degreaser. We like to keep things simple: Dawn Dish Soap is the “old reliable” for a reason—it cuts through grease and won’t hurt the film.

However, if you want to treat your wrap to the “VIP treatment” that 3M officially puts their stamp of approval on, we recommend Meguiar’s Deep Crystal Car Wash. It’s pH-neutral, smells better than a kitchen sink, and doesn’t leave behind any weird waxes or silicones that can make your wrap look cloudy.

Whatever you do, avoid anything with “Citrus” or “Petroleum” in the name unless you’re trying to turn your wrap into a science project. Stick to the basics, keep it clean, and your wrap will keep turning heads.

Q: How long does it take to wrap a vehicle I need my car back for the weekend flex.

A:We get it—patience is a virtue, but a new wrap is a necessity. Typically, we stay booked about two weeks in advance. Once we’ve had our initial “therapy session” (consultation) and you’ve put down a deposit to secure your spot, the magic starts. That deposit locks in your install date, kicks off the design process, and lets us tell the manufacturers to send over the good stuff.

Once your final design is approved, we hit “print.” And queue it up for install.

When it’s time to drop off your ride:

Please bring it to us clean. And we mean clean. But—and this is huge—DO NOT apply tire shine or wax. We know you want it to look pretty, but those chemicals are the natural enemy of adhesive. If you show up covered in “Super-Slick-Ultra-Shine,” our installers will cry, and we’ll have to spend hours scrubbing it off before we can even start.

The Finish Line:

Commercial Wraps: Usually 1–2 business days. We know time is money, so we get your rolling billboard back on the road fast.

Color Change/Show Wraps: 4–10 business days. Perfection takes a little longer when we’re tucking every edge to make it look like paint.
