The Job
The MDX A-Spec already has a sport-oriented aesthetic from the factory, aggressive lower body trim, blacked-out wheels, and sharper exterior lines than the standard MDX. The roof wrap and rocker accents extend that direction without overcomplicating it.
The gloss black roof runs from the front windshield header to the rear spoiler, giving the car the floating roof look that’s become a signature of modern luxury spec packages. The A-pillars stay body color, which keeps the glass area visually open and avoids the heavy look that a full black roof-and-pillar treatment can create on a white vehicle.
The rocker panel accents along the lower body tie the black roof to the black wheels and trim, pulling the whole exterior together as a cohesive package rather than isolated additions.
On a brand new vehicle, surface prep is critical. Factory paint has mold release agents and production residue that have to be removed before any vinyl goes down. Skip that step and the film won’t bond correctly, regardless of how good the install looks on day one. This is where working with a shop that takes new-car prep seriously makes a real difference.
