Some vehicles come in and you already know the finished product is going to stop people. A brand-new 2020 Cadillac Escalade wrapped in matte purple is one of those builds. This is what went into it.
The Build
The client brought in a brand-new 2020 Escalade and wanted a full color change. The direction was clear: matte purple, head to toe, with chrome delete on all trim and a fully blacked-out appearance to match.
The result is a vehicle that looks nothing like it did leaving the dealership — and that was exactly the point.
The Film
The wrap is Avery Dennison Supreme Wrapping Film in matte purple. Avery Dennison CWI Certified, which AZ Rag holds, is required to back the film’s warranty (provided the customer has followed our wrap care guidelines), and the matte finish on this color is exactly what it looks like in person: deep, flat, and saturated.
Matte films read differently than gloss. They absorb light instead of reflecting it, which gives bold colors like this one more visual weight. A gloss purple would have read as flashy. This reads as intentional.
What the Install Involved
Full wraps on full-size SUVs are not small jobs. The Escalade’s sheer size means more surface area, more panel transitions, and more opportunity for the design to fall apart if the installation isn’t executed cleanly.
On this build the hood, roof, and rear liftgate are the panels that carry the most visual weight — they’re what you see first from every angle. Getting consistent color and finish across those panels requires the right film tension and clean edge work at every seam.
The chrome delete removed all factory chrome trim and replaced it with a matte black finish to match the blacked-out wheel setup. Chrome delete on a build like this isn’t just cosmetic — it ties the vehicle together. Leave the chrome in and the wrap looks like an accessory. Delete it and the wrap looks like the vehicle was built this way.
