An Audi R8 LMS GT2 is a purpose-built, FIA-homologated GT2-class race machine. Flatrock Motorclub’s car #11 came into AZ Rag for a full race car wrap in Oracal Luscious Lips red, with 3M paint protection film installed over the front end of the finished vinyl to protect it under track conditions. Here is how the build came together.
What Wrapping a GT2-Class Race Car Actually Requires
A GT2 Audi is a different animal to wrap than a street car. The body panels are purpose-shaped for downforce. The front splitter, extended side skirts, wide bumper openings, and full carbon fiber rear diffuser create surface geometry that demands a cast film with real conformability. Calendered vinyl does not survive those edges.
Race livery work also requires precision beyond the base film. The Flatrock Motorclub graphics, car number 11, and team branding across both door panels have to read correctly at distance and align properly across panel breaks. Wrapping the body is one task. Executing a livery so it looks intentional across every surface is another.
Why Oracal Luscious Lips
The base film is Oracal Luscious Lips from the 970 premium cast series. The color reads as a deep, saturated gloss red. On a car with this much exposed carbon fiber, the contrast works in every direction. The bronze wheels and Michelin race tire markings keep the palette disciplined.
Oracal cast film conforms to compound curves without the edge memory and lifting risk you get from calendered material. AZ Rag holds an Oracal Certified Installer credential, which means the shop trains to apply this material correctly and has the tools and technique to back it up on complex panel geometry.
PPF Over the Wrap on the Front End
After the full wrap was installed and livery graphics were applied, 3M paint protection film went on over the finished vinyl on the front end of the car. PPF over a wrap is not something you see on every street build, but it makes clear sense on a track car.
The front bumper, splitter, and lower hood take constant debris strikes at speed. A wrap is durable, but track conditions are not normal conditions. The PPF layer adds a self-healing barrier that absorbs the abuse and protects the vinyl underneath. When the film shows wear from track debris, it can be replaced without pulling the full wrap. It is a practical layering strategy that extends the life of the base installation and protects a significant investment in the overall build.
The Finished Build
Car #11 left the shop with consistent gloss red coverage across the full body, clean livery execution, and the front end sealed under clear PPF. The Flatrock branding reads sharp. The carbon aero elements and bronze wheels handle the rest of the visual work.
AZ Rag has wrapped several cars in the Flatrock Motorclub fleet. The Porsche GT4 Clubsport in chrome gold with printed graphic overlay and the GT4 Clubsport race livery in gloss green and black are two others from the same program. Race teams that run their cars hard know what a quality installation looks like, and Flatrock keeps coming back.
