The Mazda RX7 FC is one of those chassis that earns attention before you even look at the livery. Lightweight, rotary-powered, and suited for exactly the kind of driving that happens at Gridlife events. BridgeMoto brought theirs in as their official race team car, and the brief was direct: build a livery that represents the team, the sponsors, and the platform.
The Livery Design
The base is white. Red brushstroke graphics run across the body in a pattern that is deliberately aggressive rather than clean — a design choice that suits the character of the car and separates it from the polished, templated liveries common in club racing. Navy blue handles the lettering and color blocks, including the large BRIDGEMOTO wordmark that runs the full length of each door with “Official Race Team” in script beneath it. Number 13 appears on the doors and the roof, sized to read from the flag stand and corner cameras.
The sponsor layout tells the story of the build. Haltech’s 40th anniversary mark — 1986 to 2026 — sits on the rear quarter, a detail that lands with anyone who knows what an FC-era rotary needs to make power reliably. Carbotech appears on the hood and fender. Gridlife branding runs across the windshield visor. AZ Rag is on the front valance and rear lower panels.
Printed In-House on the HP 800W
The entire livery was printed in-house on our HP 800W large-format printer using 3M IJ175cv3 cast film, then laminated with 3M 8518 gloss overlaminate. Running print in-house matters on a job like this. A race livery with multiple sponsor marks and precisely color-matched navy and red across every panel cannot tolerate color drift that comes from farming print out to a third party. What comes off our printer is what goes on the car — no handoff, no surprises.
3M IJ175cv3 is a cast film with the conformability to handle the FC3S’s body geometry, including the wide-body fender flares and curved quarter panels that define this generation of RX7. 3M 8518 gloss overlaminate protects the print through race weekends, paddock handling, and trailer transport without dulling the color. We ran the same combination on the Diehl Automotive Liger LMP3 race livery — two very different platforms, same material spec.
Why AZ Rag
A race livery is a different brief than a personal wrap or a fleet job. The design has to read at speed. The print has to be accurate enough that a sponsor’s mark looks deliberate. The install has to hold flat across wide panels and stay clean through an entire race season.
