Connor O’Sully is a familiar name at AZ Rag. His BMW E46-based Formula Drift competition car has come through the shop before, and the 2026 build brought it back with a new brief: a full printed livery carrying US Army as the primary sponsor. Eight photos, one car, one season. Here is what went into the build.
The Platform
Formula Drift is not amateur hour. The E46 platform Connor runs has been stripped to its competition core: roll cage, widebody kit, competition seats, and a rear cooling setup that turned the trunk into an active airflow system. Every panel on this car serves a purpose, and the livery has to respect that function while delivering a sponsor-ready presentation in the paddock.
That means the vinyl has to go on over aggressive panel geometry: flared fenders, a vented hood, and surfaces that do not behave like a stock street car. It also has to stay on through a full Formula Drift season, including repeated transport on a trailer, temperature cycling, and the occasional contact that is part of running in competition.
The Livery
US Army is the kind of primary sponsor that sets the visual direction for the entire car. The livery runs a black base across the body, with the gold Army star graphic and bold sponsor lettering as the primary focal point. GT Radial, Haltech, ACT, PRP, and EPD fill the secondary sponsor positions across the lower panels and bumpers, each with assigned real estate and spec colors.
Cut vinyl cannot produce this. The sponsor graphics require color-accurate digital print production. The Army gold is a specific match, and the full-coverage black base means the entire car is wrapped, not just the graphics.
