A tailgate setup lives or dies on energy. The food, the crowd, the music — and the trailer parked in the middle of all of it. For a die-hard college football tailgating crew in Knoxville, their enclosed cargo trailer is the centerpiece of the whole operation. They needed it to look the part. We wrapped it top to bottom in a full custom graphics package that makes a statement before the first grill lid opens.
What the Job Called For
This is an enclosed dual-axle cargo trailer used as a tailgate and food service setup. The design was fully custom to the crew’s brand: an orange and white checkerboard band running the full perimeter at the roofline, a bold solid orange lower panel, and a series of large-format graphics across each face. Crew logos, custom mascot illustrations, a vintage-style football player graphic, and fan-facing signage cover every side.
Each panel face has its own treatment. No two sides repeat. When this trailer pulls into a parking lot, it draws eyes from every direction before anyone sets up a single folding chair.
Why Trailer Wraps Are a Different Animal
Wrapping an enclosed cargo trailer is not the same job as wrapping a van. The surfaces are larger, flatter, and interrupted by riveted panel seams, corrugated diamond plate lower sections, and structural ribs that run the full length of the body. Cast vinyl is the only film that conforms reliably to those surface variations without lifting or peeling at the edges over time.
We printed on 3M IJ175cv3 cast vinyl and laminated with 3M 8518 overlaminate. The 8518 adds UV protection and scratch resistance that matters specifically on a trailer spending extended hours in direct sun at outdoor events. Calendered film fades and shrinks under that kind of sustained exposure. Cast vinyl holds its color and its edges.
The Installation
Large flat panels look simple until you have to keep a complex graphic layout square across a full trailer side. Riveted seams break the surface every few feet, and each one is a potential adhesion failure point if the film is not worked in properly. The checkerboard roofline band had to maintain consistent sizing and alignment around all four corners. Any inconsistency there reads immediately at distance.
The result is clean seams, sharp graphics, and a finished wrap that reads intentional from 50 feet away. For food trailers, concession setups, and event rigs, that kind of presence is the point.
