Some wraps are about brand identity. Some are about making a statement. This Ranger bass boat is the second kind.
The owner wanted a full American flag design across the entire hull. Bold, high-contrast, and unmistakable on the water. We wrapped it stem to stern using 3M IJ175cv3 cast film laminated with 3M 8518 overlaminate, giving the finished wrap the durability to handle sun, water, and the wear that comes with a boat that actually gets used.
The Design
The American flag layout runs the full length of the hull. Deep navy with bold white stars covers the bow, transitioning into red and white stripes that sweep back toward the stern. The design follows the aggressive lines of the Ranger’s hull rather than fighting them, which is what separates a well-executed boat wrap from one that just looks like a graphic slapped on a surface.
There is no subtle version of this wrap. It is meant to be seen pulling into a ramp, sitting in a tournament lineup, or parked on a trailer in a parking lot. It accomplishes that.

Why Material Choice Matters on a Boat
Boats live in a harder environment than vehicles. UV exposure is more intense on open water, surfaces flex underway, and the wrap sees repeated contact with water, fish, equipment, and whatever else comes with a day on the lake. Using the right film is not optional.
3M IJ175cv3 is a conformable cast vinyl that holds up to curved surfaces without lifting or distorting over time. The 3M 8518 overlaminate adds a protective layer that resists UV degradation and abrasion. Together they give the wrap the kind of lifespan that justifies the investment, especially on a boat that spends significant time outdoors.
Wrapping a Bass Boat
A bass boat hull is not a flat surface. The compound curves from bow to stern, the tight radius around the nose, and the transition from the hull sides to the deck all require a cast film that can conform without wrinkling or bridging. Calendered vinyl does not work here. The installation demands patience, heat, and the kind of technique that comes from wrapping boats regularly.
As a 3M Preferred Installer, we apply the same standard to boat wraps that we bring to every vehicle in the shop. The prep, the process, and the finished edges all matter. A wrap that lifts at the bow after one season is not a wrap that was installed correctly.
What to Expect From a Boat Wrap
A well-installed boat wrap using quality cast film and overlaminate will last several years under normal use. Keeping the boat covered when stored and rinsing it after salt water exposure extends that lifespan further. For care guidelines that apply to both vehicle and boat wraps, see our wrap care guide.
If you are considering a boat wrap and want to understand what drives the cost, the real cost of a vinyl wrap is a good place to start. The same principles apply whether the surface is a truck or a hull.
