This one had a name before it left the shop. The owner of this Jeep Wrangler Willys came in with a clear vision: a full-panel Battle Cat graphic stretching across every door and into the rear quarter, based on the iconic He-Man character. Against the factory blue exterior, the result is the kind of build that stops people in parking lots.
A Character Worth Putting on Your Doors
Battle Cat is He-Man’s armored tiger from Masters of the Universe. Green body, red armor, teeth out and claws down in a full sprint. The character is immediately recognizable, and it translates well onto a Wrangler. The 4-door Willys gave us a large canvas to run the full character from the front doors back through the rear quarter panel on both sides. Each side is mirrored, so the cat looks like it’s charging forward no matter which angle you’re looking from.
The “Battle Cat” name badge on the rear quarter uses custom typography styled after the original show’s logo, finished in lime green with a jagged claw-mark edge. This is not something you pick out of a catalog. It was designed for this build.
Printed Vinyl Spot Graphics: What Goes Into It
A job like this starts with a high-resolution illustration file. The design has to be formatted for output at scale, color-corrected for print, and contour-cut so the edges of the graphic follow the artwork exactly. No white borders, no boxy rectangles, just the image against the paint.
We printed these graphics on 3M IJ175cv3 cast film and finished them with 3M 8518 gloss overlaminate. The cast film conforms to the Wrangler’s door panel contours without lifting at the edges over time, and the gloss laminate protects the ink and adds depth to the colors. The graphic runs across all four doors and transitions into the rear quarter, which means the installation involves managing panel gaps, working through door hinge transitions, and keeping the character visually continuous across breaks in the body. When the doors are open, you still see a complete image.
The factory blue on this Willys does a lot of work here. It is a bright, punchy color that makes the graphic’s greens and reds read clean rather than muddy. On a darker base, the artwork prep would have required a different approach entirely.
Why Spot Graphics Make Sense for a Build Like This
Spot graphics are one of the most cost-effective ways to change the personality of a vehicle without committing to a full wrap. You get a statement piece on a specific section of the truck while the factory paint handles the rest. For a build tied to a specific visual identity like Battle Cat, you do not need to cover the whole vehicle. You need the right image in the right place.
We have worked on plenty of Jeep Wranglers here in Knoxville, from the custom spot graphics on Agatha, a Rubicon 392, to full color changes and accent treatments. If you are researching what is possible on your Wrangler, the Jeep Wrangler wrap guide covers the full range of options from rocker panel accents to complete color changes.
Why AZ Rag
Custom vehicle graphics require precision at every step. The artwork has to be production-ready, the material has to be matched to the application, and the installation has to hold up to daily use and weather. AZ Rag is a 3M Preferred Installer through the United Application Standards Group (UASG) with a portfolio that spans personal builds, commercial fleets, race cars, and everything in between. Battle Cat is proof of what is possible when the design is executed right.
