The Chevy/GMC full-size platform has been a canvas for two-tone paint schemes since the classic truck era. This blue GMC Sierra brought that tradition back with a custom white stripe kit that splits the body at the mid-line — blue on top, white across the doors and lower body, and a clean break that makes the truck look like it was designed that way from the factory.
The Design
This is a wide-panel sweep rather than a narrow racing stripe. The white section covers the full door area and carries through the body in a layout that references the classic two-tone trucks of the 1970s and 80s. It is a bigger, bolder statement than a traditional hood-to-tailgate stripe — the white occupies roughly half the visible side profile of the truck.
The design has to be built specifically for the Sierra’s body. The panel lines, door seams, and character creases all dictate where the stripe can and cannot break cleanly. Lay it out wrong and the white section looks like it wanders. Lay it out right and it looks like a factory option that Chevy should have offered.

The Install
A wide-body panel sweep like this presents a different challenge than a narrow stripe. More material means more opportunity for tension, bubbling, and edge lift if the film is not handled correctly. The compound curves across the door are subtle but real — they require working the film from the center out rather than pulling it taut across the panel.
Edges on a job like this are also more exposed than on a full wrap. Every termination point is visible against the blue paint. Surface prep, clean cuts, and sealed edges are what keep the install looking right at 60 miles per hour and in a parking lot.
Stripe Work Across Platforms
We do a lot of custom stripe kits across different vehicles and the execution challenges shift with every platform. For contrast, see the retro stripe kit we installed on a red Ford F-150 — a narrower layout on a different body that required its own approach. Same discipline, different geometry.
If you want to see what stripe work looks like at the detail level on a more precision-critical application, the Heritage Edition stripe replacement on a Ford Shelby GT350 is worth a look.
Why AZ Rag
Custom stripe kits are one of the most cost-effective ways to change the look of a truck without committing to a full wrap. Done right, they look factory. Done wrong, they look like a sticker. The difference is in the layout, the material, and the installer.
We are a 3M Preferred Installer and handle stripe work on everything from daily drivers to collector cars. If you want a quote on a custom stripe kit for your truck, start here.
